Woodwick Candle Care Guide

Thank you for supporting handmade! 💛

Every candle is made with care. But if you are having any trouble keeping the candle lit, here are our best tips for a clean, cozy burn!

1. First Burn = Most Important
Let your candle burn until the melted wax reaches the edges of the jar (about 2–3 hours). This prevents tunneling and helps your wick stay lit in future burns.

2. Light It Like a Match
Hold your lighter across the full width of the wood wick—not just the center—until a full flame forms. It may take a few seconds longer than cotton wicks.

3. Keep It Trimmed
Before each burn, gently break off the charred wood or trim the wick to about 1/8". A too-short wick can be hard to relight, and too-long can smoke.

4. Avoid Drafts
Burn your candle in a still, draft-free area. Breezes can cause flickering or extinguish the flame.

5. Having Trouble?
If your wick won’t stay lit, try this trick: Use a paper towel to gently remove a little wax around the wick. Then relight and let the wax pool reset.
