Evergreen Collective is registered as a General Benefit Corporation, which means we're legally required to provide a public benefit to our community and report on it every year.
Having this legal framework in place is huge for us. It means our mission isn't just a nice idea--it's something we're actually held accountable for. Yes, that means I have official board meetings with myself (since I'm the only one on the board), I pay a yearly fee to keep our status, and I write a report every year outlining our public benefit. But honestly? I love it. As a business, of course, we need to make a profit to keep going, but legally, that can't be our only purpose.
We will never profit at the expense of our community--but if and when we do profit, it's because we've done something good for the world. -Taylor Hall, Owner | Evergreen Collective
